Horse Racing News 2009

snow disrupts horses racing

Riverside Theatre goes for the challange at Kempton today as he runs in the WilliamHill.com Novices Handicap. The Bookies have the Nicky Henderson trained Horse as the clear favorite at odds of 4/6 and even shorter on the Betting Exchanges but Gary Bowler, a big fan of Riverside Theatre thinks he might be worth avoiding this time. "This looks alot more competitive than the bookmakers are suggesting, as much as I admire the horse and as well as the yard is performing, and complimented with BJ Geraghty one of the yards most consistant riders on board, I just think he might come unstuck here today, Rory Boy @ 16/1, El Dancer @ 5/1and My Moment @ 7/1 all look capable of winning this and should Riverside go on to win, it wont be any real loss in terms of not betting since the odds are a too short for my liking anyway. I like the look of Rory Boy and 16/1 on the horse trained by Nigel Twiston Davies in this 6 runner 2 mile event makes miles more appeal."

horse racing flat season

Sports tipster Gary Bowler has admitted that he just can't wait for the new Flat Racing Season to begin in March next year. "While I love the thrill of National Hunt racing, you can't beat the start of the flat season, watching the new 2 year olds, the 5 furlong sprints on nice firm ground all provides some great oppertunties and thats when I feel more at home with racing. I have a lot of friends at Newmarket and we all get a little excited as the flat season approaches." But for now The Bowler has to battle it out for a few more months with the All Weather stragglers and what ever is left over the fences. "All Weather tracks are very strange, with vast differences between all of our All Weather circiuts, I think you really need to be a specialist at possibly just one track if you want to find a good level of success their, otherwise it can all look like guesswork. Fibresand, Polytrack and Dirt all have unique running qualities and most horses will prefere just one of the surfaces, people seem to forget that and think if a horse can win everything out at Kempton, then it runs at Wolvehampton and you are left wandering why it failed to even get in the mix, it all boils down to the unique surface and running conditions. Thats one reason why I am a massive fan of turf racing on firm ground."

dennis o regan and howard johnson send miridian city to musselborough

Top National Hunt jump trainer Howard Johnson will be hoping to keep his steam roller of winners ploughing through Musselborough today were Meridian City seems to be the pick of the pack today. Dennis O'Regan takes the ride for Howard on Meridian City who ran absolutley superb at Aintree last time out. With the ground is a little bit softer than it was in his last race however this does not concern our tipster Gary Bowler who thinks that softer ground will not be enough to stop this horse today. Meridian City looked to have bags of stamina and also has the pace required to pick up the race late, it will be interesting to watch how the soft ground affects the race but I still belive there will only be one winner.

paul nicholls can send us winner at exeter

Sports Tipster Gary Bowler believes Harry Skelton is the man to have onboard Take The Breeze today and reckons the Paul Nichols trained horse will pull out all the stops in this afternoon's clash encounter for the Class 2 Novices Chase at Exeter. Benselem is the Horse expected to lead the market and comes from a yard that are turning the screw on the winners latley but preference for the Paul Nichols horse is given here and The Bowler hopes to add this to his string of winners at Starlays Sports.

masterminded breaks ribs

Dual Chasing Champion horse Master Minded is reported to have suffered a broken ribs after a vetinary scan revealed fractures to rib cage of the animal. Master Minded, trained by the Paul Nicholls yard was sent for a scan after a couple of dodgy runs. "We knew there was something not quite right, when he ran at Cheltenham last Thursday it did not take a genius to work out something was wrong." A scan revealed several stress fractures to the horses rib cage meaning Master Minded is likely to be out of action for a while. "We have every confidence of getting him back and ready for his next big champion defense, however we doubt we will be running hi untill then." Nicholls added. It is likely the horse will now undergo a period of both rest and gentle horse physiotherapy which includes use of the horse walker and plenty of tlc.

street power is fridays horse racing nap

Street Power makes his latest press at 19:50 Wolverhampton tonight in a bid to turn around the misfortunes of his last attempt. Street Power just missed out here last time with a close 2nd but has won plenty of races at this grade and distance and seems to love running on the All Weather. Gary Bowler thinks the current 3/1 price could be a bit of a steal for a horse that that has the blistering pace needed to romp home. A few other interesting horses make up the field including the well respected Kallachy Kid, Fishforcompliments and the highly fancied Beckermet but Bowler is determined to give the nod to STREET POWER !

.
nicky henderson's Riverside Theatre at Newbury

Can Riverside Theatre give us yet another great display and win for us at Newbury today. Gary Bpwler certainy thinks the Nicky Henderson horse ridden by top jump jockey BJ Geraghty should be the one to get home infornt it the 2m1f Begginers Chase today. Bowler added, "Riverside Theatre, I have been lucky enough to watch this one quite a few times in the flesh and I really like the horse, while been bold Riverside Theatre has bags of composure too. The yard is firing on all cylinders at the moment and from the six runners its deffinatley the one to be on. Riverside Theatre is already trading at even money and the odds are expected to shorten as the day progresses so if you like a punt, now is the time to get on board.

gary bowler predicts harbour view 20/1

Time Book the odds on favorite was declared the winner after a close photographic verdict at Southwell. Our Lay selection looked like it was beaten as Lava Steps challenged late and looked to have got his head in front on the line and a photo was called. Clearly seen from the photo shown on ATR, the favorite was beat however the judge seemed to have disagreed and gave the verdict to Time Book. Five minutes later a Stewards Inquiry was alo called as Time Book looked to have impeeded Lava Steps with 1f left to race. This again was waived  away and the result was declaired to stand.

Is this yet another example of corruptness in Horse Racing or is it just a case of sour grapes ?

gary bowler predicts sitting tennant

Gary Bowler believes Overturn will not have what it takes to finish in front of Sitting Tennant at Aintree on Sunday. Howard Johnson sends Sitting Tennant to Aintree with his top jump jockey Dennis O'regan on board and Bowler belives this is one to be on in the first race. Overturn, the main rival in the 12:05 at Aintree is expected to be the top contender coming from a yard in fine form at pressent but Bowler belives the Sitting Tennant should be able to produce a carear best effort here and come home with the money.

can tony mccoy win at market rasen

A P McCoy takes the reigns on SYNCRONIZED today in the 2m6f Begginers Chase at Market Rasen. A P has enjoyed numerous success when partnered with current trainer Jonjo O'Niel and providing A P can succesfully steer Syncronized around the difficult chase course at Market Rasen then this one could make an easy winner today. Synronized last seen running at Cheltenham at the start of the year was an unfortunate faller at the last flight, but since then the yard has enjoyed increasing to top form with thier horses turning out well of late. The top booking of Tony McCoy and the ground a little softer than that day at Cheltenham could indicate that Syncronized could be poised to land The Event Gaurd Begginers Chase, 13:40 Market Rasen.
